Here is a list of all the things we can recycle in Brentwood, with locations. If something is in good condition and can be re-used, try a charity shop or Freecycle. If you know of something else that can be recycled locally, please contact us.
Council collections:
Garden waste (include biodegradable magazine covers in this)
Food waste
Glass
Blue bag – paper, cardboard (no food traces), magazines, birthday cards (no glitter), phone directories
White bag – tins, aluminium foil and clean food trays, plastic bottles and tubs, clean food trays (not black), aerosol cans, metal jar and bottle lids
Council Civic Amenity Site (Coxtie Green):
Electronics including computers and phones (anything with a plug, battery or cable), printer cartridges, batteries, CDs, fluorescent tubes and light bulbs, paint tins
Food & Drink waxed paper and foil-lined containers (including tetrapak, pringles tubes, cocoa tubs etc) – council depot in Warley (off The Drive)
Textiles, including worn clothes for rags – outside fire station
Pens and toothbrushes – separate boxes at back of church
Batteries – Brentwood library and many other shops
Spectacles and contact lenses – Specsavers. Note that you can have new lenses fitted to old frames too.
Flexible plastic (click for details) – Sainsburys. Large Tesco stores will take all soft plastic and sort for recycling.
Printer cartridges – Brentwood library and Sainsburys
Brita water filters and batteries – Robert Dyas
Make up empties – Superdrug (includes compacts, pallettes, mascaras, liners, lip products, plastic tubes and bottles, but not glass, wood, brushes or polish) and Sainsburys
Plastic packaging from toiletries including toothpaste tubes – Boots (you will need to get products individually checked before recycling in store)
Rubber bands – put in any post box and the Post Office will reuse or recycle
Bikes – Trailnet cycle centre, Thorndon Country Park North
Bras – Brentwood library
Medicine blister packs – not currently available

Inflatables – visit the Wyatt and Jack website
Terracycle also allow households to send them certain waste items directly. Please visit their website to see if you use a lot of any of the specified items.
