Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle refers to ways that we can minimise the amount of materials that we use, the amount of the Earth’s resources that we use, the energy that we use and the amount of waste which we produce in our everyday life. So if you want to minimise the impact that your lifestyle has on the planet, you can do this by reducing the amount of materials that you consume, reusing items that can still be used, and then ensuring that any item that is recyclable is sent for recycling when its useful life is over.

  1. Reuse plastic tubs from food (eg margarine)
  2. Mend items where possible
  3. Avoid buying items intended for single use or items with excessive packaging
  4. Buy items second hand where possible
  5. Before buying anything new, ask if you really need it.
  6. Buy recycled or bamboo toilet paper, preferably without plastic wrapping
  7. Buy a refillable “keep cup” for hot drinks and take it with you when you buy coffee on the go (disposable cardboard cups are lined with plastic)
  8. Our recycling directory will help you find out what you can recycle in Brentwood. For some less common items, visit Love Essex or Reduce Reuse Recycle
