Here is a list of all the things we can recycle in Brentwood, with locations. If something is in good condition and can be re-used, try a charity shop or Freecycle. If you know of something else that can be recycled locally, please contact us.<\/p>\n

Council collections:
\nGarden waste (include biodegradable magazine covers in this)
\nFood waste
\nGlass
\nBlue bag – paper, cardboard (no food traces), magazines, birthday cards (no glitter), phone directories
\nWhite bag – tins, aluminium foil and clean food trays, plastic bottles and tubs, clean food trays (not black), aerosol cans, metal jar and bottle lids<\/p>\n

Council Civic Amenity Site (Coxtie Green):
\nElectronics including computers and phones (anything with a plug, battery or cable), printer cartridges, batteries, CDs, fluorescent tubes and light bulbs, paint tins, shoes, rigid plastic, coffee pods (aluminium and plastic), cooking oil, engine oil, scrap metal, wood and timber<\/p>\n

Food & Drink waxed paper and foil-lined containers (including tetrapak, pringles tubes, cocoa tubs etc) – council depot in Warley (off The Drive)<\/p>\n

Textiles, including worn clothes for rags – outside fire station<\/p>\n

Batteries – Brentwood library and many other shops<\/p>\n

Spectacles and contact lenses – Specsavers. Note that you can have new lenses fitted to old frames too.<\/p>\n

Flexible plastic (click for details) – Sainsburys<\/a>. Large Tesco stores will take all soft plastic and sort for recycling.<\/p>\n

Plastic packaging from ‘hard to recycle’ toiletries including toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes – Boots<\/a><\/p>\n

Medicine Blister packs – Boots<\/a><\/p>\n

NOTE – Boots offer additional Advantage points for recycling these items. If you wish to claim these, you will need to register for their ‘Scan to Recycle’ scheme and scan items individually. However, they have confirmed that if you do not want to claim Advantage points, you can still recycle these items in the bins provided in store without registering.<\/p>\n

Make up empties – Superdrug<\/a> (includes compacts, pallettes, mascaras, liners, lip products, plastic tubes and bottles, but not glass, wood, brushes or polish) and Sainsburys<\/p>\n

Printer cartridges – Brentwood library and Sainsburys<\/p>\n

Brita water filters and batteries – Robert Dyas<\/p>\n

Rubber bands – put in any post box and the Post Office will reuse or recycle<\/p>\n

Bikes – Trailnet cycle centre, Thorndon Country Park North<\/p>\n

Bras – Co-op funeralcare, Brentwood High Street<\/p>\n

Toys – see the Toys4Life website<\/a><\/p>\n

Terracycle<\/a> also allow households to send them certain waste items directly. Please visit their website to see if you use a lot of any of the specified items.<\/p>\n
