There are many ways to get involved in our regular Sunday services, usually on a rota system to share the duties around. If you would like to know more, please speak to the contacts listed under the headings below, or a churchwarden.
Sidespeople
Sidespeople are the front-of-house team, welcoming and assisting the congregation as they arrive. They give out hymn books, take the collection and count it after the service. Each team is normally on duty every four to six weeks depending on the service. Sidespeople also serve at special services, such as at Easter and Christmas. Anyone on the electoral roll is eligible to join the rota.
For further information contact Michael Bitschiné (229313).
Servers
Servers are at the heart of our Sunday communion services, assisting the priest at the altar. They prepare the altar, carry the cross, candles and banner in processions, receive the gifts of the congregation and offer them at the altar. Many servers find that being a server deepens their sense of belonging and brings them closer to God. If this sounds like the place for you, please join us. The only requirement is that you should be confirmed.
Speak to Bernard Manktelow (203113) for more details.
Bible Readings
Bible readings at our 9.30 Sunday services are read by members of the congregation. If you are interested in joining the reading rota, please contact Kevin Woodward (01708 371290).
Intercessory Prayers
Intercessors lead prayers during the 9.30 service, praying for the church, the world, our community and those in need, and reflecting current concerns. If you would like to join this rota, please contact Val Dobson (01708 348663).
Refreshments
Refreshments are served in the Belli Centre after the 9.30 service, giving people a chance to meet and chat over a drink and a biscuit. The refreshments rota operates in teams of three to set out the cups, serve tea and coffee and wash up afterwards. Please contact Lauren Bowyer (07919 492435) for more details.
