“For the Church of the 21st century,

good ecology is not an optional extra

but a matter of justice.

It is therefore central to what it means

to be a Christian.”

(Rowan Williams)

To care for creation, and to sustain and renew the life of the earth, is a vital part of the church’s work.  Now more than ever we see the urgency of hearing God’s call to care for his world.  St Peter’s is committed to setting an example in respecting the created world, dealing fairly with all people and treading lightly on the earth.

As a church community we are delighted to have achieved Bronze Eco-Church status, taking actions including reducing our carbon footprint by investing in green energy, buying Fairtrade and environmentally friendly products, recycling and reusing wherever possible, encouraging wildlife into our churchyard, and promoting more sustainable transport. Our Environmental Policy can be found here: Environment Policy 2022

We also encourage all our congregation to sign up to the Creation Care Scheme to help you determine how to reduce your environmental impact. Please link your account to St Peter South Weald so that we can celebrate our collective impact.

We have gathered ideas together to help you play your part: please follow the links below. Remember that all our little actions add up.
